Another brief missive, suffice to say that isn't advisable to sit down to write a blog at 2.30 am. Anyhow, NYC was pretty good. I met some interesting people, caught up with old friends, much enjoyed (again) the London NYC Hotel and my delightful girlfriend.
I'm off to see my girlfriend on Wednesday. I am so excited to see her after five weeks apart but I am less excited by the fact that she is presently based in Las Vegas. This is an odd city that, if you overlook the nefarious pleasures of gambling, shopping and showtime, leaves you scratching around for something to do. It's rather soulless, almost devoid of any visible sense of community, and has a glaring need to reinvent itself. But that's another subject for another day.
The vague plan is to then fly to Vancouver and Seattle for a few days. I hear both are lovely, especially at this time of year. Indeed, my girlfriend lived in Seattle for many years and remembers it very fondly. Alternatively, we may just drive towards the redwoods in and around Yosemite and check out the Napa Valley and Northern California.
Our last road trip took us on a stretch of the Pacific Highway from Cambria via Carmel to Santa Cruz and we had a fab time. I will advise on our forthcoming movements nearer the time... assuming I can keep the time.
Finally, I should just mention that the denouement of the 2010 World Cup is imminent. Holland v Spain is about as good a final as one could wish for. I have a more personal interest than most as two of the players from my team will be participating one way or another, van Persie for the Dutch and Fabregas for the Spanish. No prizes for guessing which team that is.

New York City beckons
Just a brief note to get the show on the road, so to speak. I leave London early tomorrow for NYC where I anticipate I shall be engaged in a heady mix of business and pleasure. At least, that's the idea. I return in a week and will reveal all.
